Who is the JCBT and why are they in charge of my benefits?

The Joint Community Benefits Trust (JCBT) was established on April 1, 2017, to provide employee benefits to members of the Community Bargaining Association (CBA) of BC and their dependents. The JCBT is jointly sponsored by the Health Services and Support – Community Subsector Association of Bargaining Agents (CBA) and the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC). The JCBT is governed by a Board of Trustees with equal representation from both unions and employers. The Trustees have a duty to act in the best interests of the JCBT and its 14,000+ beneficiaries. The Trustees’ role is to ensure that the JCBT Plan is administered fairly, equitably, and in a cost-effective manner, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the plan for all members.

The JCBT is the result of an agreement reached between the CBA and HEABC in the 2014 round of collective bargaining and subsequently ratified by the parties.
